Once the site of a sugar plantation of 3,500 acres owned by Maj. Robert
Gamble, who built an antebellum manor house in the 1840's. Today, the
restored and refurbished Gamble Mansion is the only surviving plantation
house in South Florida and the oldest home in Manatee County. West of I-75
